PB&J Oatmeal

To me, there’s no food more comforting than peanut butter and jelly. First of all, I have an obsession with peanut butter, but the combination of it with some sweet jam and soft bread? I’m sold.

I made this little concoction by accident, throwing together what little fruit I had and using an almost empty peanut butter jar. When making this, be sure to use a GLASS jar, not a plastic one. I made that mistake once before and was left with a melted jar and probably ingested some toxic chemicals (I try not to think about it).

If your jar isn’t almost empty, just scoop a tablespoon or two onto the oatmeal and you’ll get the same effect.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh berries (I used an assortment)
  • 1 almost empty peanut butter jar or a scoop of peanut butter
  • Toppings of choice

Directions

  • Bring the water to a boil in a small pot.
  • Add the oats and reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • When the oats have absorbed about half the water, add in the berries and cook until all of the water is absorbed.
  • Pour the warm oatmeal into the jar of peanut butter, stir, and sprinkle with toppings of choice.
  • Enjoy!
