My Ideal Workspace

Ideal Working Space
Whenever I sit down to work—whether it’s writing, studying, or working on my blog—having a clean and organized space is essential. After looking through WeWork’s website, a company dedicated to creating an efficient workspace for individuals and companies, I was inspired to design my dream office. Their office spaces are clean, well-designed, and create an energetic environment for entrepreneurs. I want to bring this positive energy into my own home.

Once I graduate in May, I’ll be returning home and can’t wait to redesign my room. Creating my dream workspace is the perfect opportunity to get started before I make my remodeling plans. While redesigning is an exciting challenge, did you also know a clean working space has positive effects on your health?

When you clear your rooms of clutter, you’re able to free your mind and maintain control of your surroundings. According to the Massachusetts Public Health Blog, “Decluttering has the ability to energize, release negative emotions, and create both physical and mental space.” I find that this methodology works well and that my productivity soars when I can sit down without clutter and be surrounded by a decor that inspires me. I’m not distracted or thinking about other things. I’m focused on my tasks at hand.

Now to the fun part: my ideal working space. To begin, I need a work surface. I love white desks and think that this desk with some storage space from Ikea would match the theme of my room. White also creates the clean feeling that an efficient workspace should have. To go with the desk, a simple wooden chair brings out the feeling of nature.

In terms of decor (the best part, duh) I have to include my favorite things: candles, healthy food, and plants. The capri blue scent from Anthropologie is to DIE for and it’s blue container works with the turquoise color of my walls. Not only do candles help relax me, but the color blue also has a calming effect. The picture of a pineapple helps remind me about my love for healthy food and what has inspired me to begin writing in the first place. Also, pineapples are just plain delicious. To bring some natural essence into the room, a small terrarium of succulents would be perfect. A natural element helps to remind me to take breaks, go outside, and get some fresh air.

And of course, I can’t forget some books to help inspire me. I own the two books shown here, which have given me some helpful recipes and taught me more about our relationship with healthy food. I love having books about nutrition and wellness that I can flip through for research or whenever I need a little food inspiration. With a stack of books on your desk, you’ll never run out of things to do (yes, I was a book nerd when I was younger).

My collection of decor that I hope to furnish my room with helps to keep me motivated and focused when I sit down to write. Find what works best for you and make your space your sanctuary.
